Open for sound science, Bioscience Reports provides a home for research in all areas of cell biology and molecular life sciences. This fully Open Access journal publishes all papers under the liberal CC BY license. Articles are assessed on soundness alone, providing a home for all valid findings and data.
The only compulsory requirements for the article file are that it must include:
- Abstract (within 250 words)
- Declarations/Conflicts of Interest
- Funding information (research articles)
- Author contribution statement (research articles)
- A reference list (with numbered, in-text citations)
Other than the above, there are no specific format requirements. Papers can be structured however the author wishes, as long as it is clear for peer-review assessment.
The Journal accepts submissions in nearly all file formats*. For submission we require the following:
- Article files to include
- Main text
- Any supplementary material (where applicable)
- Response to reviewers (revised papers only)
*If you work in LaTeX please submit a PDF for peer review; if accepted, your LaTeX file can be used for the article production process.
(i) There are no charges for colour figures.
(ii) Figure quality and size
In order to ensure the best possible reproduction in the published article, please take careful note of the following when preparing figures
- Provide a suitable file format
Preferred formats: TIFF, EPS, JPEG, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; tip: convert these to PDF)
Discouraged formats: GIF and PNG
- Ensure that your figures are prepared at such a size that they can still be interpreted if re-sized (especially if made smaller) during production
- Check that they are of good visual quality (especially with regard to lettering and labels)
-If supplying TIFF and JPEG files, please ensure that the resolution is no less than 300 dpi
Poor quality figures can cause the publication of accepted articles to be delayed. With this in mind, please consider all of the above when preparing your figures. The journal’s publishing staff (email@example.com) will be happy to provide additional guidance on preparing figures.
(iii) Figure layout - whenever possible, for multipart figures, ensure that parts are arranged horizontally across the page rather than vertically down the page
